Abstract: This is a methodology for the systematic study of spelling which helps prevent and intends to eliminate spelling errors made by primary education students. The methodology was developed on the basis of an inventory of spelling errors in 5,800 written compositions from the study Functional Active Vocabulary of Cuban Schoolchildren. This innovative and effective work is based on three solid scientific principles: linguistic, psychological and pedagogical. The book was published in 1995 and reprinted in 1999.Two articles have been published on this study. In numerous conferences, several scholars from other institutions in the country have presented papers about their experience in implementing this methodology. This work’s social and educational impact has been widely known in Cuba. The methodology was implemented in the state of Lara, in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and two studies were conducted there, which resulted in two theses to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Pedagogy at the Pedagogical Institute of Barquisimeto. This work has won several provincial awards in Science and Technology Symposia. It has been registered in the CENDA (National Copyright Centre).
