This Academic of Merit of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba and Hero of Labour of the Republic of Cuba was the creator of the Center for Applied Linguistics and a pioneer of Acoustic and Experimental Phonetics studies in Cuba.<\/div>\r\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cla.cu\/clanuevo\/julio-vitelio-ruiz-hernandez\/\">Dr. Vitelio Ruiz Hern\u00e1ndez<\/a> directed important projects of great national impact, among which stand out: Spelling in primary school students in Cuba, A synchronic study of the speech of Santiago de Cuba (phonetic-phonological level), The VAL-CUBA Orthographic Vaccine and The Auditory Dictionary for Blind Persons.<\/div>\r\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cla.cu\/clanuevo\/julio-vitelio-ruiz-hernandez\/\">Vitelio Ruiz Hern\u00e1ndez<\/a> will always be honored and remembered by his family, disciples and colleagues.<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our founder, Julio Vitelio Ruiz Hern\u00e1ndez, passed away on April 15, 2019 at night.
